I don't wanna search through every thread to find this discussion and I'm not trashing him as a player but wtf was he doing on the last play? what's his assignment? I'm just very confused at what happened there. someone that knows more football than me can explain what was going on, maybe?
seems to my simple football mind that he fricked up big time

Well, I hope to never see that final play again in my life, so I'll be of no assistance.

Some despicable horrible moron started a thread about the players maybe throwing the game on purpose.
I don't know though. I kind of can't shake the thought now that maybe they did.

They put him in as a fullback to block. he doesn't run block. They should have had a fullback in there.
My guess? They wanted/hoped Vanderbilt would crash the middle of the line thinking Chubb was getting the ball up the middle.

i agree with all of that, but seemed like a lack of effort which is very un chubb like. just had to find a body and he didnt even try.

We have a really good fullback and 2 premier RBs. So to get the most important 1 yard in the game - make one of our RBs play fullback for the first time in his life and put our smallest WR at RB for the first time at Georgia.
And when Vandy sees what you're doing and calls a T.O. to prepare for it - don't change the play.
None of the above made sense to me at the time. It still doesn't.

I understand...but he is not used to looking for a block. When he blocks he is pass blocking. he stands back and the defensive player comes to him. It is totally different dynamic than running forward looking for someone to block. it's hard to explain, but it's just different. My guess? they worked on the play 2-3 times and he just isn't used to blocking like that. they either should have given him the ball or put a fullback in there. they were counting on the defense to key on him like they did all game freeing up McKenzie. McKenzie is just too light, though.

If the linebacker is just a half-step slower getting to McKenzie, it's probably a TD play and we are all celebrating what a genius Chaney is.
