Being a McDonald's All-American selection out of North Carolina usually results in playing for the Tar Heels or Blue Devils.
Dominique Wilkins instead chose to go play for an SEC program, a decision that resulted in a lot of public humiliation from those questioning why he would shun the ACC.
Before being convinced by Bulldogs head coach Hugh Durham to come play for a team that had never made the NCAA tournament, Wilkins spent his early days in the projects of Baltimore, Md. with eight siblings and a single mom. Sometimes Wilkins would play street games against much older players to help put food on the table for his family.
Fans of Georgia basketball, Dominque Wilkins or just sports in general will not want to miss the next edition of SEC Storied: Dominique Belongs To Us, airing Friday at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN

Was playing blackjack at the Seminole Hard Rock one day and looked over at the next table and 'Nique was sitting there playing. Didn't look much older than his playing days.

Absurd to think that he and Herschel shared a campus. Like two world-ending comets passing within a few feet of one another.
