The state of college football has left the SEC in shambles.

I honestly am becoming more and and more frustrated with the way that college football has gone. It has effected the SEC tremendously, and honestly is the only reason why the transformation happened.

If you look around the country, most teams look the exact same offensively. The only reason the SEC has remained relevant is due to great recruiting, but offensively most of the major programs haven't adapted.

The reason Alabama is remaining successful is because Saban, although he hates the way football is played now, has adapted when necessary, even somewhat defensively.

LSU and Florida won't ever be what they once were unless they adapt. Most athletic directors are living in the past and making stupid hires. The SEC can't just win year after year by playing old school anymore.

Some of the weaker SEC programs have adapted though, and it's starting to show on the field. If some of the powerhouses don't adapt soon, then the SEC will lose all credibility. Teams like Kentucky, South Carolina, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State will be able to beat the LSUs, Floridas, and Georgias of the conference.

This will leave the SEC in shambles because we won't have any real powerhouses outside of Bama. It's already starting to happen and has been for the past few years, but it's progressively getting worse. We need you guys to adapt to keep the SEC alive. If you aren't going to adapt then you can get used to 8-9 win seasons every year.

I really hate this highschool crap, but it's the way things are now. Jalen Hurts is leading Alabama in rushing yards. If you think we still play old school then you are mistaken. Things are different now.

Football is cyclical. Offenses are always trying something different and defenses are always trying to catch up.

(pssst it's "affected", not "effected")

I guess Bama fans are just tired of winning. Tryna hand Saban back over, we can fix the SEC for everyone.

I've always been confused by the "less traditionally successful SEC team beats the more traditionally successful SEC team and now the SEC sucks" narrative.

We're all SEC, sometimes one SEC team is better than the other, get over it, big 6 can't win em all.

The spread has transformed the game drastically. Eventually they will have to pull the flag football mentality off of a running QB and name him fare game once leaving the tackle box. Until then it will be shitty high scoring football with very little defense.
I like the old school mantra of knocking someone's dick in the dirt.

That's a long winded way of saying "it's all Saban's fault."

This is bull shite. MSU ran the god damn ball down LSU's throat for four quarters the other night. The power spread under Urban at UF started the SEC run. The SEC west powers need to be coached better. It's as simple as that. McElwain, Orgeron, and Butch just may not be the guys. I think someone needs to go put a large number on Tubbys head.

You motherfrickers needs to worry about Vandy Saturday night. Y'all haven't exactly been playing inspired football this year. The rest of the league will take care of it itself.

SEC teams have all the talent in the world and a helluva lot more than than other conferences. What they lack, IMHO, is great head coaches that can utilize that talent.

While I don't like agreeing with a Buckeye, I agree with this one.

The SEC has lost good coaches, and in the arms race, most schools are using the extra money to pay buyouts.

Coaches also spend time chasing stars and catering to the prima donna athlete instead of getting the folks that work hard and are willing to work -- look at the highly ranked recruits from the state of Texas as an example. Their is a huge disconnect between their incoming potential and their final output (as collegiates).

You do realize Bama ran the wishbone in the 70s where the QB ran the ball quite often...

I bet if you took 95 Nebraska and placed them in this season, theyd wreck everyones shite. College football is cyclical. Good teams are good no matter what offense they run. If Saban had Bama run the wing T, theyd still be good.

You won't have anything to gripe or worry about until he retires.

Programs go up and down. It's cyclical. Even Bama will have a downturn at some point.

The SEC just does not have any established great coaches right now outside of Saban. None even in the next tier really.

Just in the last few years the SEC has lost Spurrier, Richt, Pinkel and Miles. These were established, name brand coaches that one a lot of ballgames at their schools. None of them were replaced with established coaches.
