The following is from Rick Cleveland, a long time sports reporter on Coach O's effectiveness as a head coach during his time at UM.

LINK

quote:

I watched three years of it...His Rebels were 3-21 against SEC teams, 3-24 against teams from BCS conferences. At Ole Miss, O won one game in three seasons against a team that finished with a winning record. His last Rebels ranked last in the SEC in scoring offense, scoring defense, turnover margin, rushing defense, total defense, time of possession, red zone offense and kickoff coverage. They were 11th of 12 teams in rushing offense, passing efficiency, first downs, field goals and allowing third down conversions. They were the only team in the league without an SEC victory and they were one of two that was not bowl-eligible. And then there was the 2007 Egg Bowl. Other than that, he was great.

How could the LSU Athletc Director and Preident thought Ed O was a good hire?

I keep seein "he has a binder", but I really have no idea what the reference means. Anyone care to explain the binder reference?

I still have to ask: Why haven't LSU fans demanded that Alleva be fired? He's the worst AD in the country.

Apparently O brought in a "binder" to his meeting with Alleva as the coaching decision was being made. Rumor has it that the plan laid out in the binder is what got him the job.

"You've heard about the two binders LSU coach Ed Orgeron brought with him to his job interview.
Now, you can see them.

"Derek Ponamsky, a special assistant to Orgeron and former sports talk radio host in Baton Rouge, tweeted a picture of the talked-about binders that "blew away" LSU's search committee members during a meeting Friday morning."

Great link.

quote:

So what's exactly in them? "The things I learned at USC. Then really Pete Carroll made me a complete coach. I put all those things down, thoughts, all the things we had done at those great programs, it became our program here at LSU, presented it to Joe," Orgeron said. "It was just things that I learned from great programs, championship programs that I learned that I believe LSU ought to be and will be a championship program."

I hope he isn't booted before he implements his plan.
