I know that the NL East is absolute GARBAGE outside of Washington this season. Sad, really.
I was so spoiled as a kid when they won the NL East every year for 14-15 years in a row.

Well the East sucks. We do look to be improving as a team which is great because we are without our best player but we are still 10-11 games back in the WC so 2nd in the East doesn't mean much

I'm talking about the fake fans that want us to lose all our games to get a top draft pick. They know who they are.

You never know, the Nationals could get hit with an outbreak of Swine flu or Bird flu or some other type of flu you can really only get if you fornicate with the animal it's named after. When that happens we'll be in perfect position to take the East. It's nice to not be completely in the basement like we have the last couple of years, just hope we don't do something stupid at the deadline if we're in roughly the same spot we are right now.

Anyone that can't enjoy these last couple weeks has something wrong with them. I watch every game I can and have never hoped we lose. It seems that the "draft game" only really works with NFL. Short term at least.

I can see why you would want your team to tank in basketball or even baseball for that matter, but I'm not sure it does a whole lot of good in baseball.
It takes so long for prospects to mature into MLB-ready talent, that I would much rather see improvement in my team to provide hope for the coming years. So much can happen between the time you draft a top-5 talent and when they actually make it up, and typically you don't see a team go from 65 wins to playoff bound in one year.

You must look at it this way, if you want to sell off your team at the deadline for prospects, you are asking to lose.

This has been one of those seasons where I watch every single game knowing that we're not going to make the playoffs, and am having a fricking blast with every game. Even thought overall they're average, they're a very fun team to watch.
