Bama baseball commit should probably go in the first round of the MLB draft tonight. Thoughts?

he will be a first rounder, likely a high first rounder. unfortunately, we'll not see him playing for Bama

We really need Jacob Heatherly to fall in the draft

He's already fallen below his projection in reality. I don't think he lasts very long today. Even so, the $750,000 or less that his new slot will get is a far cry from $2M+ as a first rounder. I still think he will sign.

It probably will make Bohannon's job a lot easier if he does sign. I'd imagine he was promised a good bit of scholarship money.

He was drafted #26 overall last night.

There's less than a 0.00 percent chance he ever plays for Alabama.

Bammer, was talking about Heatherly dropping and signing with us, not Thompson.

Heatherly was the 2nd pick in Round 3 (#77 overall). Slot money is just under $750K. He could get more than that. Early indications are he will sign, as expected.

That's great news for Bama baseball. Tough luck for the kid, but now he will just have to show the scouts they screwed up.

No...I assume he meant he'll sign the pro deal.

Paying players in baseball would be such a waste of money. Even the highest earning teams are barely generating revenue. Some college baseball powerhouses, like Virginia, are losing money each year.

Alabama has made money on baseball. And will again. Even with our worst season in program history, Alabama finished #14 in the country in attendance. When Bohannon gets this thing turned around, STS will be packed again. People will flock to the program like they did during the Jim Wells era.
