I think Sterk saw that there was going to be a huge bidding war for the guy and decided Martin was the safer choice. I'm going to assume Martin also threw the Porters out there as a sell too.

Washington
Illinois
NC State
California
LSU

Which one is going to pony up the dough?

Likely 1) NC State
2) Illinois

Doubt he goes to Cal or UW. They're not likely paying $4M per either.

I'm thinking NC would grab a Keatts if Crean is a no go.

I would guess NC St as well.

Illinois gets Keatts, and Marshall may finally move with Indiana coming open.

Marshall would be scary at Indiana. That's a 5 million dollar contract though right?

Yeah. $4.5 for sure. I think he wants a 6 or 7 year deal, too.

You pay to win. IU will pay....... NC State will probably pay.

Dave Matter is making it sound like Sterk and Crean wouldn't have gotten along.

Yeah. We forget these real life details sometimes. It's like any other job in some ways.

I've seen speculation that IU would go after Alford, opening UCLA for Marshall. If I'm IU, I'd take Marshall over Alford, sentiment notwithstanding.

I think there's some bad blood between Alford and IU from the Iowa days.

Interesting. I had read somewhere that Alford was interested in IU. Guess IU holds the grudge

Keatts going to Ill-a-nnoying is troublesome to me. I could be wrong.

That would be a great pickup for IL.

A proven coach that wins wherever he's been. Learned how to recruit under Pitino.

He's going to be a great coach
