We are truly at heart a basketball school. Do not look at history. We are in the Carolina's where basketball is elite. We just never had a coach worth a frick. I can't wait to meet m,y carolina baws at the remainder games this season!

There was this guy named Frank ... initials were F.M.

Yeah, we've had good basketball and good coaches ... McGuire and Fogler. Heck, George Felton was an outstanding coach.

Frank McGuire is the father of basketball in the Carolinas ... he brought it here. But the two Carolina flagship programs went in two different directions for reasons that are legend to many of us.

Politics and shooting ourselves in the foot.

The ACC was determined to thwart our basketball (and football) endeavors ... so we left the ACC. (We've always had fantastic fan support - always.)

From there we just couldn't get out of our own way.

McGuire was done wrong but ... we hired Bill Foster away from Duke. (He ended up having health problems while, in the meantime Duke replaced him with Coach K who actually wanted to come here.)

Felton was a drunk ... Bobby Cremins and he had drunk contests.

Cremins left us at the alter.

Eddie Fogler was outstanding ... but damn did Mike McGee and he clash and fight.

Dave Odom was a solid hire who had his hands tied.

Horn had the resume and the presence ... he just didn't have the drive.

Martin loves it here. Ray Tanner had better not blow this. Tanner wanted to keep Horn ... he's recognized the foolishness of his ways hopefully.

Appreciate your insight.

What are your thoughts so far on Tanner as AD? How would you grade him?

It's been 13 damn years since our last tourny birth. And weve been snubbed twice in that span.

I NEED this team to get to the tournament.

I think I wrote on here last year I've never even seen us play in a tournament game.

I was born in 1990. Don't remember the mid 90s bombs (for the better) and I was in class in middle school in 2004.

2004 was my freshman year, and I barely remember that game. We all skipped class and watched it at Bates, but I remember it not being that competitive.

He's come a long ways ... but he's not big time Ad material, not yet anyways.

He's going to have upcoming battles to retain Staley and Martin, plus he has yet to make a big hire of his own.

Ray has two main advisors/right hand men ... Waddell and Charlie. So far they have led him down a difficult path, or two, bit at the same time kept him out of the fray once or twice as well.

Charlie is probably the heir apparent, Charlie does the dirty work. Ray kisses butts.

Rooster, you left one "almost" out.

I know you are talking about our coaches, but in the spring of 1986 we almost had Bobby Knight.
