General Austin looks like a serious bad-arse.

Auburn University has selected a retired general and a former football player as the newest members of its board of trustees.
Retired U.S. Army Gen. Lloyd Austin and former Auburn football player Quentin Riggins have been selected to take on two new at-large seats which were created after Alabama voters passed a state constitutional amendment in November.
Raymond Harbert has also been select to be reappointed to another term as an at-large member of the board of trustees, according to an Auburn University press release.
Austin retired after 41 years in the Army with his last posting as four-star general over U.S. Central Command, which oversees operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, in April, according to the Department of Defense.
Riggins was an Auburn linebacker from 1986-89 and worked as a sideline reporter for the Auburn Sports Network for 25 years. He was named vice president of governmental relations at Alabama Power in March, according to Alabama Power’s website.

They don't put fools in charge of CENTCOM. Some notable names Mattis, Petraeus, Schwarzkopf. Freaking awesome to have him on the BOT.

Petraeus may not have been a fool when he was wearing the stars, but he sure as hell became one later when he got infected with Washingtonitis.

Typical Auburn, missing out on the 5* and landing a 4* instead.

Wiki-Austin Austin was born on August 8, 1953, in Mobile, Alabama[4] and raised in Thomasville, Georgia. He graduated from the United States Military Academy (West Point) with a Bachelor of Science degree in June 1975. He later earned a Master of Arts degree in counselor education from Auburn University's College of Education in 1986, and another Master of Arts in business management from Webster University in 1989. He is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced courses, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and the U.S. Army War College.
NOTE: Does he want a strong football program!

That's pretty cool. Yes, he looks like he would put his boot through anybody on Auburn's football team

Happy for QR. He's given a majority of his life to help Auburn and the community. Now he'll do so from the biggest opportunity

Just FYI for history buffs (like me) in here, the last surviving 5-star American officer, Omar Bradley, died in 1981.
Army 5-stars - George Marshall, Douglas MacArthur, Dwight Eisenhower, and Omar Bradley
Navy 5-stars - William Leahy, Ernest King, Chester Nimitz, William Halsey (p.s. Raymond Spruance deserved it over Halsey)
Air Force - Henry H. "Hap" Arnold
Special Category - George Washington (posthumously promoted to 5-star rank by the U.S. government with an effective date 4 July 1776)
Not counting George Washington, the most senior 5-star for the American Armed Forces is Admiral William Leahy, who was awarded his 5th star on 15 December 1944. (Leahy was FDR's personal advisor and aide for military matters in the White House during WW2, so FDR awarded him the honor of seniority).
The most junior (and last awarded) 5-star is Omar Bradley, who was awarded his 5th star on 20 September 1950.
