47 passes means you're likely playing catchup in the only way you can... any team who throws the ball that much will likely be trailing late in a game.

Deshaun put up numbers against Bama he had a lot of chances.. how many teams can stop 47 passes?

I bet they'd rather throw the ball 35 times or less than be forced to put it in the air nearly 50 times..

if we start slow like we have been doing, they wont be in that situation again. I'm not calling for the Clemson win yet, but I dont like the matchup and would not be surprised if they do. I wanted Ohio St for 2 reasons. We match up better with them and I wanted revenge on urban frickboy fryer.

If they get the ball that many times it means our offense is shitting the bed.

But I will say this, Clemson can't run the ball like they did last year either.

I see our defense having success against them this year. I definitely don't think that they'll go up and down the field on us, not even close.

Running the ball on Bama is a waste of a down anyway. Might as well throw a lot.

Their strong suit is the short slants and the long ball... both of which arent our strongest points on defense. The long ball is mitigated by the pass rush... the short quick slants however...

ETA: strong points outside of watsons running ability but thats a given

A lot of people are talking about how Clemson will be prepared this time around, but what makes these same people not consider the fact that maybe Alabama will be better prepared to face them this time around, too? Do you honestly think Saban hasn't considered last year's title game and the ways they could have played the game better? Just because they won doesn't mean they've completely let their guard down. That's not how the process works.

You are absolutely right. A lot of young kids on message boards think you have to air it to win....not true. Look at A&M...thats been their problem...they cant run that well and throw too often. 89% stat is that the team that outrushes its opponents will win the game...and thats a fact. The other 11% that lose? Its usually because of multiple turnovers or the margin to rushing between them and their opponent is very small.

Throwing 40+ passes is not good....and you will lose a lot of those games...ask A&M and Ole Miss.
