What was he possibly thinking ? He's your best player AND your best runner. Plus, you would still have the threat of the pass. Beginning of the end for Hugh with NCAA looming ?

Didn't understand that at all and after it didn't work, he did it again.

Freeze runs the shotgun on 4th and short.

It's been a horrible disaster for him for years over and over, still does it.

Definitely dumb. I don't mind it further back in the field as pellerin is an elite athlete. But against Auburns RZ d with your second string offensive line you need all options that Kelly brings available.

I thought the same thing. Kelly was red hot, passing and running. He was killing it. What the hell was Freeze thinking? Cost the Rebs a chance to go up, and changed the momentum of the game imo.

Just stupid.

Tried to get cute.

Freeze is a great offensive coach, but that was a terrible set of play calls.

I actually did a little cheer when he put him in. A second time. Auburn's D line was eating Ole Miss's lunch.

We all said that he would learn from his high school dumb shite mistakes over the past few years...he hasn't. We have lost multiple games due to the exact same shite. That might not have cost us the game last night, but it has in the past. He shows flashes of brilliance followed by football 101 mistakes a peewee coach wouldn't make. He's too stubborn to learn, accept that he needs help, and bring in the help that's necessary to fix our flaws. Until he does and gets help on both sides of the ball, we will never get out of this rut. In fact, we're trending down so hard and so fast (games and recruiting), if decisions aren't made today then he might dig a grave so deep that no amount of prayer or cash heavy bagmen can get him out of it.

Absolutely some of the worst coaching I've seen all year.

If there's one thing OM can't do well it's run the ball. Auburn has a good run D.
To put in an obvious running package, not once but twice, is stupid. Placing him in the shotgun borders on insanity.

Let Kelly win or lose the game. If you wanted to run it out of shotgun at least leave Kelly in so you could spread out the D with receivers and let him do a delayed QB draw.

Terrible.

Good luck with upcoming sanctions crippling your program.

He shoulda just kicked the FG after auburn called the timeout IMO. Would have changed the whole fourth quarter.

I know hindsight and all... but a banged up OL vs a pretty good front seven in that spot made no sense... Especially after you showed you hand.

It really didn't affect anything. He took the advantageous field position and scored on the next drive and only lost a bit of time off the clock.

It took points off the board. You never know how that changes the way the other side reacts. Even 3 points could have changed the game at that time. I thought that was horrible called series at the goal line. Kelly was lighting ya'll up then he tries to run right at the best part of Auburn's defense.

When Freeze did that, Auburn knew they really didn't have to defend the pass.

This is often how it feels, but leaving Auburn inside their own 5 and then forcing a punt. Which Ole Miss hadn't done much of in the game essentially gave the ball right back to them and they went down and scored the points they left on the field. Obviously anything can happen, but in this specific instance it simply took them a bit longer to score. Once they kicked it to Auburn and got favorable field position Auburn went down and score on Ole Miss. Based on the flow of the game this is likely what would have happened if he'd just took the points only he'd trade 3 for 7 instead of 7 for 7.
