Why do people use this argument when making excuses for losing games? You still lost the game. Also if anything changed during he course of the game, every play following that change would be different as well. Time travel anomalies and shite.

Also, why do people compare previous years teams to the current years? They arent the same team. Old guys leave and young guys come in. Everyone else gets stronger and better during the off season (or at least you hope they do). Just seems like a flawed way of thinking.

I don't know why LSU fans do this. Must be learned behavior from older LSU fans I guess.

Yeah it's completely unreasonable to believe that Texas could have won that game when Garrett Gilbert had them closing in.

Aggy fans resort to bringing up the early 90's in defense of their 5 straight losses to LSU.

Let's not throw bricks in glass houses.

I know right. My favorite is when people omit plays for stats. For example, last year after the Bama/UGA games, a lot of my friends were saying, "They held Chubb for under a hundred yards, if it weren't for one run." Last time I checked, that run and that td counted.

I have no problem with it. It's just a fan's way of rationalizing a loss. Of course, you have to move on but who doesn't second guess outcomes with "if" logic. It's a coping mechanism.

"If ifs and buts were candy and nuts..." sing it.

Okay so change the outcome of a play at the end of the 2nd quarter. The entire 2nd half will be played differently. The mindset of players will not be the same. The actions that got you to that original second half didn't happen, so you would play a different second half. It's the same as back to the future 2. Alternate timeline.

Why don't you just save us all a bunch of time and ask, "Why do people make excuses?"

...better yet, just post less.

It was during garbage time, and yes, in order to keep validity in your statistics you don't really want to include stats from periods of time when the game is out of reach.
