I received this from my son's HS Principal tonight:

"This year our focus is on the "inner scoreboard" instead of the "outer scoreboard" for measuring our success. The "outer scoreboard" is what most people judge a school on; test scores, attendance rate, the percent of students involved in extracurricular activities, etc. All of those metrics listed are important, but they are surface level successes. It is my hope that collectively we move our focus to the "inner scoreboard"--- the little things than can be overlooked. The "inner scoreboard" looks at processes and procedures that ultimately impact the "outer scoreboard" metrics. I borrowed this philosophy from Nick Saban (no judgement please!) because I believe it will be key in advancing our school forward. I will continue to share more about what this looks like throughout the year."

Lots of ut fans around here still sore about '09. We'll see how this goes over.

Our regional manager just had a conference call with all of us about using "the process".

She's a Ohio State alum.
