Now that the playoffs are here, should bowl games still exist?

Should we reduce the bowl games to a select few to lead into the playoffs?

No and there's no reason for it.

Too much money involved and the players love playing in bowl games. I think you should at least have a record of 7-5 though. That won't happen either though.

If you do not like bowl games, turn off the TV. Some are terrible, but enjoy a lot of them especially for SEC games.

I do wish they would spread those out some instead of having three on at the same time.

I'm not speaking about you specifically, but I swear half the people that say this are the same ones that say "This game is so boring, guess I'll watch netflix"

To be fair, I also asked if we should simply have less of them. I seem to recall, not to long ago, people were saying that there were too many because you had to have 6-6 teams just to fill them all.

I agree with that. However as long as players like the experience and money comes in, it'll continue to happen.

It cheapens the product, but at the same time it's more football.

I love how everyone read the first question\subject line, then completely ignored the second question.

Bowls are a big deal, particularly for the smaller schools who get very little exposure during the regular season.

That said, if you have a situation like the Arizona Bowl, where no one wants to broadcast it and it winds up being between two teams from the same conference, perhaps we've reached the point of oversaturation.

I say yes but half the bowls need to go away. No team should be rewarded for going 6-6 or

Yes we should have fewer bowl games, but not because of the playoffs. We should have fewer bowl games because too many are basically just scams to scam large fanbases out of their money.

The Bowl season is a our desert to the main course! Of course we should not do away. Some of the best games are play in that Dec 24-Jan 31 week.

My only gripe is no 5-7 team should ever be allowed to go to a bowl. Get a high ranked FCS school that got eliminated from their plays to fill the slot

Or perhaps we don't need yet another thread on the merits of the designated hitter.
