So they did superlatives for every position & I was a bit surprised to see Leff tabbed as #1 returning run blocker. Here's the blurb
quote:

Leff only played 270 snaps in 2015, but was once of the best run blockers in the nation on a small sample size. His +8.7 run blocking grade was the highest of any returning offensive tackle in the conference.

Runner up was who I would have guessed was top for AU & that's Braden Smith. So according to PFF we return the top 2 run blockers on our OL in 2016. I think the small sample size is important to note but still I know we give Leff a lot of shite but at least in the run game he was effective for us. Question is can he develop as a pass blocker in 2016

Most of those snaps were as a 2nd OT in the TE position so he was blocking backers and not DL right?

Depends on the play & defense. Sometimes we line up unbalanced & he is the backside OT so he is blocking the end. Sometimes if he is on the play side he is blocking down on DE & the other OT is releasing to the 2nd level. And then yeah sometimes he is releasing immediately to the LB

Not saying he is a superstar but someone objective thinks he is strong at least on the ground

PFF doesn't account for schedule strength as far as I can tell which could be a big deal depending who Leff played against

If Leff, Golson, Kozan and Smith can all continue to be good v. the run, I really think Jovon will have a nice year. Today, I really think putting a healthy SW with a healthy Jovon would be a great combination.

He played in every game last season along with playing most of the 2nd half at RT against Alabama

Agreed. Smith/Leff on the right side might actually be the stronger side to run behind next season. After rewatching a lot of our games I think Braden Smith is the most fun lineman to watch. That dude mauls people

He's a mean motherfvcker. For reals. I laugh whenever I see everyone voting Kozan for honors over Smith. Kozan is very good and will be a monster, himself, once he's really back to 100%. But Smith is a different being.

It's probably because he is such a heady player that really understand the game. He looks like a gym rat with such a high motor

But for real he is a nasty, mean, mauling beast

You are a braver man than I, willingly stepping between Auburn fans and their un-favorites.

Prayers lifted.

A true extension of the coach on the field.

I'm convinced PFF is a troll website.
