LSU is the preseason favorite of many publications to win the SEC West. This seems unlikely.. and if it does occur, it will likely be because of several teams having two losses.

LSU, since 1990, has had 2 seasons with fewer than 2 losses, 2003 and 2011.

LSU under Les Miles has finished 1st or tied for 1st in the SEC West 3 times in 11 years. LSU under Gerry Dinardo (2) and Nick Saban (2) finished 1st or tied for first in the SEC West 4 times in 10 years. Houston Nutt at Arkansas finished 1st or tied for 1st in the West 3 times in his 10 years at Arkansas. LSU is in the midst of their worst stretch under Les Miles. He has more losses in the previous 4 years at LSU than at any other 4 year stretch for LSU since Gerry Dinardo was head coach.

This might be the year to turn it around, but it also could be a year where 2 or 3 teams finish tied for first in the West with 6-2 conference records.

Last season, 4 teams in the West finished 5-3 or better in conference, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas and LSU.

The SEC West has been won by a team with a 1st year starting quarterback for the last 3 seasons.

Teams that will certainly have a new starting QB: Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi St. Texas A&M. Auburn potentially could have a new starting QB.

1966 Cotton Bowl - Frank Broyles coach

What's the record versus Arky since 1992? Absolutely the worse LSU has been was in the 1990's.

Now that I know the facts, it's pretty clear LSU fans have delusions of grandeur.

Granted, winning two Natty's in a decade was impressive, but their last SEC Championship was five years ago and they haven't done anything since.

This is just a play on an Arky poster - which they haven't done anything since Clint S was their QB.

The SEC is much much better since 2005. Can't win the SEC with 3 losses like lil Nicky did
