Walmart has the hero 4 silver on sell and I'm thinking about picking one up. Is it really worth the price? I now it's a great movie camera, how's the still picture quality? And is it easy to take a still with it?

I've never taken a still with it but I've used mine when I go dirt biking, it works fine I guess

Still shots on mine aren't great but it takes very good videos. I have used kayaking, swimming and hiking.

I'm thinking about getting it because I'm going on a cruise Monday and I will be doing some diving. I go whitewater rafting at least twice a year so I would use it then as well. I just trying to justify only using it like 5 times a year in total, that's why I asked about the stills. Thanks for the input.

I've got a Hero ... I've had it for awhile. We used it horseback riding and bike riding and the kids used it for more stuff than I have.
I'd wait for the 5 though. It's supposed to offer substantial improvements from size to picture quality.
Just wondering, what is the sale price for the Hero at Wally World? I think I paid close to $500 for mine a couple of years ago. Last I saw they were down closer to $400.

Amazon has the Hero4 for $399.
I'll be getting one eventually when I get back to jumping, the 5 may be out by then. If so, I may get one of those or the 4's may have come down even more.
eta- the stills from a 4 are pretty good.

My dad bought mine for me as a gift. I don't use it very often but I have been impressed with sound and video quality.

Have the Hero4 Silver and took some great helmet cam videos of ziplining in Jamaica, as well as kayaking and frolicking in the ocean. We also use it to record my daughter's softball games, using a fence mount and the wireless app that not only lets you start and stop the record but actually watch the video through your phone.
