At a press conference this morning, Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) researchers announced the discovery.

The interaction of two black holes merging generated waves that were detected at the two LIGO installations, one in Livingston, LA and the other in Hanford, WA.

This confirmation of gravity waves is strong evidence that the universe expanded in an extremely rapid burst right after it was born, a process known as cosmic inflation. So it's another log of proof that something like the Big Bang happened as the beginning of our Universe.

Also, they're a bit closer to reality:

No transitional waves no care. Teach the controversy.

North shore of Oahu has the biggest I've ever seen.

Not likely since both observatories recorded the effect at the same time. There have been other "confirmed" gravity wave detections that were disproven by the scientific method's peer review, however.

The biggest and most disappointing was the BICEP experiments done in the Antarctic in 2012.

A century since it was published, predictions from General Relativity still coming up true.

Just shows how ridiculously smart Einstein was.

Have you studied ergodic theory?

Will there ever be another mind like Einstein's? Amazingly, he wasn't strong in math, as both a child and an adult. He got his cohorts to work most of the math for his theories.

No, but it sounds interesting. Reading about it, I see a great similarity with how memory is thought to function.

We, as a species, seem to be advancing faster and faster. Towards what end is a good question, don't you think?
