Apparently. Charlie "Not for long" Strong told recruits including Fowler not to publically commit but to keep in quiet and string people along, lie to coaches etc. The ole Kiffin Saban Move. Apparently used this against A&M too this year.

The Wild West of recruiting is clearly back and Strong. Back back in order I hope.

Sumlin would have tried the same ploy ... but no one would have signed with him come signing day.

I guess Strong felt strong about the relationships he had built.

So the question is, who will last longer, Strong or Sumlin?

I think Les is outta that discussion now quite honestly.

Neither.

Strong hasn't had a winning season (7 losses each season) and Sumlin is burning bridges left and right.

Not much confidence from Strong. Didn't want them to commit because he knew that teams would negative recruit the kids with "5-7".

Charlie Strong's 5-7 Big 12 team this year was loaded with former blue chips.

There are some old timer Aggies that worry about what the stronhorns do, but probably 90% of the fan base doesn't care what the stronghorns do or whether we ever play them again.

Actually a pretty good gamble by him. The logic is sound, and many other coaches have essentially said as much: Once a kid commits, the recruiting starts. Lord knows they would have been easy marks.
