Quick overview-Lake Travis an Aledo were both 4A (2nd largest classification behind 5A). Both had 5A level depth and were among the best teams in the state
Lake Travis (team 1)
vs Longview (2008 Texas 4A state finalists, ranked #24 nationally, only loss prior to LT was to Allen, 21-7) LT won 48-23. Longview is the team in green, their record was 14-2, and they were the best/highest ranked team that either LT or Aledo played
LINK
vs Alice (2008 Texas 4a area finalist, 12-1) Lake Travis won 55-32
LINK
Aledo (team 2)
vs Stephenville (13-2 2013 Texas 3A state semi finalists. 3A is the 3rd largest classification, behind 4A and 5A. Aledo was 4A) Aledo won 56-14
LINK
vs Highland Park (13-2 2013 4a state semi finalist) Aledo won 44-3
LINK
Which team looks better? I Would appreciate Input to the thread, I am working to better develop an article I wrote that put these 2 teams in a hypothetical match up.
I have already written the article but I am now looking for outside input to add to it.
I already posted this on the more sports board and didn't get jack shite. Would appreciate any input as to who looks better

With no prior knowledge of either one of these teams, I would probably go with Aledo. I'm a defensive guy. Aledo shutting down state finalist Highland Park says a lot to me.
Any prominent (D1) players from either of these teams that could be an "x" factor in this hypothetical matchup?

Well neither team has had guys really boom at the college level, but here are some names
Lake Travis
-Garrett Gilbert-5 star QB who set multiple records and finished the 08 season with 4,854 yards passing, for 55 TDs, and 767 yards rushing and 23 TDs
-Cade Mccrary-WR who walked on at UT, eventually earned a scholarship
-Austin Pollard- WR who played at Tulsa
-Conner Floyd-WR who played at Tulsa
-Andy Erickson-WR/RB- played at Rice and Texas State. One of the fastest white guys you'll ever see
-Paden Kelly-4 star OT who played at UT (Texas)
-Taylor Doyle-3 star OT who played at UT (started at C in the 2015 season)
-Michael Brewer-back up QB who played at TT and Va Tech
-Ryan Erxleben-an all state DE in high school who was a punter for Texas Tech
-Kramer Fyfe-eventually was the kicker for Texas tech
Aledo
I'm not as familiar with Aledo's players, but they had a couple of star O linemen, a 4 star athlete in Ryan Newsome (who eventually signed with UCLA) and a RB who signed with UTSA and had 1500 rush yards in 2013
Aledo had the better defense, LT arguably had the better offense
Also, Chad Morris (yes the SMU/Clemson/Tulsa Chad morris) was the head coach for LT in 08, which is a big time advantage
LT scored 784 points, Aledo scored 1023, but LT played a better schedule, had a far better QB, and a offensive genius HC

Actually, what kind of info do you need to make final judgement? I can provide any info needed

quote:Records for the last two teams for starters. Also, I don't know anything about the different classes in Texas. How does 3A compare to 4A? Also, it doesn't seem like your links work. They aren't clickable, at least on mobile.

Aledo was 16-0
Scored 1023
Allowed 140
Lake Travis was also 16-0
Scored 784
Allowed 256
Don't let the stat differences fool you, Aledo played in a horrendously weak district. Aledo's district opponents had ZERO playoff wins, LTs district opponents had SEVEN playoff wins
Aledo played 3-4 good teams all year, LT played a better schedule top to bottom
ALSO,
LT played TWO top 100 teams, won both by double digits
Aledo played ZERO top 100 teams
Lastly, the links should work now

i generally like the teams that play a tougher schedule. if both were 16-0 but one played a much tougher schedule, its easy, for me anyway.

I live in Aledo, therefore my answer is Aledo. Sorry, that's the best I can give you.
