SCOOP: Terry Beckner was arrested by MUPD for possession of 35 grams or less of marijuana. Working on more info.

I hate MUPD so much. It's not an arrestable offense in CoMo, yet they insist on ignoring the local law and arrest our athletes anyways. Let's legalize the shite already and be done with it. I mean, who honestly cares at this point? Its insane we arrest people for a tiny amount of marijuana.

MUPD is a state law enforcement agency that enforces state statute not Columbia city ordinances.

That being said, yeah, they're a bunch of pricks...

Whether you are for legalization or not, rules be the rules. And law be the law.

I agree, that's why we should change the law. We the people decide the law, time to overturn this archaic, outdated one.

I've had a few run ins with the MUPD in my time. They reminded me of the keystone cops every time.

Good news is that Odom's comments make it sound like he will go easy on marijuana, said it is a national issue with contrasting views that can be difficult for kids.

Gonna need TBJ for the West Virginia opener.

Well, he got pulled over for driving at 9:30 p.m. without any headlights on...so what are they going to do, look the other way when they see/smell pot in his car?

I agree, it's ridiculous that it's the law, but it is in fact the law, so there's that.

Lucky he isn't getting a driving under the influence as well. They did go easy on him.

Driving impaired is driving impaired. Whether it's alcohol, pot, or pain meds.

Yeah, you have to help yourself and not be dumb.

I'm all for legalizing it. But right now, it's still the law, and everyone knows it. The good news for him is that, as I understand it, campus lies in Columbia's jurisdiction as far as legal action. He shouldn't have anything more than a fine, no court appearance at all. MUPD can cite him, but bottom line, in COMO it's just a ticket, very low level misdemeanor.

Here's an idea why doesn't he turn on his headlights and not give them a reason to pull him over. Blame the cops all you want but if he is going to be that stupid he deserves what he gets.

Common police trick to claim the smell of something to justify search. Since TBJ did not take a drug test, you can't, under the law, assume he is under the influence.
