Trent Richardson should have won the Heisman in 2011. Crazy how incredible he was in 2011 but how bad he is in the NFL. Mark Ingram deserved his as well but I felt like Richardson was more deserving.

Richardson is still the best Saban era RB IMO. He was so fricking good.

TR was pretty damn good in 2009. The best he ever looked to me was as a freshman. That Arkansas game

And he carried us against Auburn and came up big with 100+ in the NC too

He would have won it some years, but not that year because RG3 was just insane.

You don't win the Heisman in a vacuum, you do it against the competition for that season.

There are a lot of guys who finished 2nd/3rd who would have won it most years and just happened to be up against a strong field that year.

Ingram won it due to the huge push that no Bama player had ever won it before and his performance in the SEC championship game. The dude was non existant in the Iron Bowl a week before.

Maybe if Richardson played in a conference title game, he's in better position

Over Luck and Griffin? Nope. That year was stacked.

We had some games in the middle of the season where McElroy really struggled and Ingram carried us. Most notably South Carolina. That last TD drive that was all him from the wildcat was his Heisman moment.

It's really less about your performance and more about who else has a good season that year. Ingram didn't have the greatest Heisman numbers ever (but they were far from the worst), but he played in a season where nobody else really stepped up to take it. Both Henry and McCaffrey had seasons good enough to win it in most years, but unfortunately they came in the same year.

2009 Ingram was infinitely more to the team than 2011 Richardson. Watch the South Carolina game for proof. McElroy was completely worthless in 2009 except for three games (Virginia Tech, Auburn, Florida). Richardson at least had McCarron to help balance the offense.

2011 Richardson >>>>>>>> 2015 Henry

It seems Richardson was pulled in the third quarter of every game (except LSU), unlike Henry. Plus he split carries with another running back (unlike Henry). Lastly, Henry had the benefit of playing in a conference title game.

If Trent had played all four quarters without splitting time with Lacey, Henry doesn't break his record and Bubba Gump down at Baylor probably doesn't win it.
