The last one I remember was 1997. Have y'all been up here since then? Any of y'all making the trip? Y'all have brought pretty decent fan support to Bud Walton Arena a few times in the past, so I know some State fans live in and around NWA.

I was there, too. Danny Ford's last hurrah, and we somehow beat a ranked State team in front of like 40k mostly sad-drunk and quiet fans.

2003 is the last time State played in Fayetteville.

That was back in the day when Arkansas always stood in our way. Controlled our own destiny that day in the West. Lost to Arky and the Egg Bowl.
Did pick you off in 98. But lost the West against Arkansas in 99 and 2000. 2000 is still the only time a team beat both SEC Championship participants in the regular season. We beat Auburn and Florida and couldn't beat Arkansas.

Yep, 1998 y'all kept us from a rematch with Tennessee in Atlanta on that FG.

This is the first time since 2003. We also played in Fayetteville in 1997 and 2001. I've made the trip to Little Rock but never NWA. Maybe, I'll go in 2017 if it's not in Little Rock.

It shouldn't be. We've bargained out of SEC games in Little Rock, it appears.

Good. No offense but that place is a shitehole. I told myself after 2007 I'd never go back to that place and haven't. I want to make the trip to Fayetteville. I here it's totally different.

Been a long time since MSU was worthy of being rewarded with a trip to Fayetteville

I went there once, back in 1980.
Was for another game.
I'm sure from TV the difference is like night & day.

In 1980, Fayetteville was a little isolated mountain town of 35,000 people with a few podunk towns lining the highway to the north. Now it has a population north of 80,000 and is at the southern end of a contiguous metropolitan area of over 500,000 people.
The stadium was 35,000 seats smaller back then, too.

Yep.
Lou Holtz was the coach. SWC Game with A&M. Hawgs got a big lead in the 1st half, 24-0 and held on to win 24-23, iIrc.
Took the Pig Trail down.

I'm not sure exactly when Razorback Stadium got lights for night games but it hasn't been that many years ago.

I haven't researched it but I know they didn't play night games when I was in school and it was rumored that there were not supposed to be any because the grantors didn't want people driving at night after the game on the winding roads. Of course we didn't have the interstate either--just 71 and the Pig Trail--so the travel is much better now. I almost always take the interstate but the others are truly the scenic routes. The scenery along the interstate isn't bad either--occasionally we'll ride the Arkansas-Missouri railroad train between Ft. Smith and Springdale. It makes for a good outing in the Fall.

Driving from South Arkansas, I almost always took the Hwy. 71 route back when I was in school. Occasionally, I would take the Pig Trail but that road was in terrible condition, even back in the late 60's and early 70's. But there was very little traffic. At times, you could drive for miles it seemed, (even in the daytime) and not see another car.

That's exactly what I did too. Occasionally you'd get fog on the Boston Mountains and I remember that disrupting my travel plans a time or two.
