None. I'm just a Chem E student who's always had a fascination with the weather. Now I just have enough of a background in thermodynamics and fluids to have some basic understanding of the physics at play.

Worst rainfall in 1,000 years in SC and its because of fossil fuels being pumped into the atmosphere 40 years ago.
More like the last 170 years.
A changing climate didn't cause the set up that forced all the rain to SC. Warmer waters from a warming planet will make these events more common. Higher the water temp, the more water vapor is in the air. Would also obviously drive hurricanes stronger all things being the same. There are other factors that would serve to retard hurricane development, as we've seen in the Atlantic in the last few years.
The thing about Climate Change is this, if you believe it caused by humans or is a natural pattern shift is irrelvant. We see it happening and preparations need to be made as events like the SC flood become more common.

Sadly, folks will fight about the politics and preparations will not happen.

Gotta love how this turned into a left and right issue.
Could have been a bigger disaster last week in the Carolinas if they trough at went negative tilted (the bottom end of the front pushes out ahead if the rest of it) 6 to 12 hours sooner, there was going to likely be a Category 4 straight into the Carolinas. This storm feeding on the warmer than average temps in the Bahamas and toward the east coast.
The Gulf Coast, eastern US, China, Japan, India, Philipeans, Australia, ect all have potential to see stronger storms. Even storms that aren't as strong will likely be bigger and bring more storm surge. More frequent strong noreasters too.
There are consequences to face if we can ever get past the question of what causes climate change if it even exists.

Not a left and right thing, more like a political inaction on both sides.

They're considering shutting down the water treatment facility in order to fix the canal, now. Anyone on City of Columbia water needs to be prepared to go 3-5 days without running water.
