Slut Walk - First Friday Art Walk, Springfield MO
I know some of you live in the Springfield area. Heck, Cheshire and I are neighbors.
A group of radical women have scheduled a topless/nude protest on the Springfield, MO downtown square on October 2nd (First Friday Art Walk) to protest "slut shaming" and the "sexual objectification of women by men".
Therefore, if you're in the Springfield, MO area on October 2nd, feel free to drive downtown to see nude women protest slut shaming and sexual objectification.
LOL.
Cheshire...are you planning to go downtown that evening? We may eat at Flame that evening and then casually walk over to the square so that we can sexually objectify nude feminists.

Trust me the ones that show up topless will not be the ones that anyone would want to see topless.
You'll never see a porno titled "The Naked Feminist"??????

I know...but from a normal spectator's point-of-view, I bet it'll be an interesting event to witness.

I disagree. I must see to know exactly what we're dealing with.

are you kidding? i'm walking in it.
just kidding- women and men both do the stupidest shite these days and pretend it's really meaningful and so thought provoking and gonna change the world.
i read an article about a woman who was running a marathon and was on her period and instead of using anything she just let it flow baby and that was supposed to be some powerful message too. nope, just nasty.

Not only nasty, but a real public health concern.

I hadn't heard of it before now but the wife does love to go to First Friday. I don't see why we shouldn't go down there and check it out.

What are feminist thoughts on pubic hair? They seem to just let it all hang out

have you noticed how weird downtown Springfield has become? It's like a melting pot of street performers with talent, street performers without talent, vendors, outdoor concerts, bums, classic car enthusiasts, bikers, special interest groups, westboro Baptist "you're going to hell" hecklers, college students, wannabe rap artists, and normal people/families dining out, looking at art, or pub crawling.
Downtown Springfield has become a legitimately fun but weird place.
I kind of like it and I kind of hate it too. My inlaws from St. Louis LOVE downtown Springfield because it's so strange and they demand to eat down there whenever they come to town.
ETA: The last time we were downtown there was a rather long parade of classic hearse cars (apparently there's Springfield club of hearse enthusiasts).

Should we make poster boards and rate them like the dunk contest?

It is definitely much different than Columbia or Fayetteville's bar scene. Walking from Outland to the square can be such an entertaining experience because you come across so many different groups in the span of three blocks. I always have a fun time down there myself just people watching.
