I rewatched the game tonight and there is some thing that is sticking out to me. Did any body else notice that our oline seemed to pass block better then run block? Seemed odd I thought it would be the other way around. Could just be me but that excited me a little. Regardless......

A lot of that is the style of run plays we employed. NMS did what a lot of teams will do to us...stack the box and make young QBs beat them. To kinda offset that we used a few counter plays and a lot of sweep plays to avoid the middle. Even if the defense is outmatched...8-9 in the box can stop a run game from being too successful.

Oh I understand they stacked the box Reel. I guess I was just amazed out how well they were able to pick up all out blitzes especially in there first game no matter the competition.

Not only did we pick up the blitzes but at points I saw Grier *and some of Harris* both actually reading the defense and doing it well. The blocking was actually very, very solid, although the center needs to work it a bit, I'm far, far less concerned than I was at the beginning.
That was better than any of us could have expected except for that dude who keeps posting 15 - 0 everywhere.............

Yes. Kelvin did run for 6.8 ypc though so it makes you wonder if it was more to do with the true freshman running backs not running as north/south as they should.

Which is understandable from freshman RBs.
However, I didn't see Conkrite or Scarlett run East-West much, which is a good sign.

It seemed like both were trying to run people over the whole game to me. Especially Scarlett. Anytime he was close to the sideline he'd put his shoulder down in to one of their DB's.

Cronkrite looked like our most physical back IMO.

He may develop a nick name if he keeps it up. Cronk for short.
