With LSU not actually playing, I'll ask everyone else about Week 1 Improvements

Countless coaches at this level have always said you often see the biggest improvement from Week 1 to Week 2. With that in mind, and without any fat to chew from an LSU game, I was wondering what SECr Fans wanted to see the most out of their squads in terms of improvements from Week 1 to Week 2.
It can be coaching. It can be intangibles. Or it can be be the obvious individual, position group or unit performance.
I caught whip around coverage of Ole Miss and almost all of Auburn through the 12:00 mark of your game vs Louisville, but not knowing exactly what you all expected I can't speak towards what you thought of your respective performances.
I will say I think Auburn's front played well (relative to what I can't say; in this game they did generate consistent rush). I also think that Kelly for Ole Miss has the strongest arm of any QB Freeze has had to work with, which is something I know he'll effectively utilize throughout the season if he can find dudes to make plays at receiver.
But this thread isn't for just Auburn and Ole Miss. It's for anyone who played more than 10 snaps yesterday! What do you guys want to clean up moving forward. What stuck out to you in a less than great way. What gnawed at you that you wanna see nipped in the bud?

I'd like to see better zone coverage play from our ILB group. Also, our corners need to play better bump and run D.

Open field one on one tackling needs work.

We need to eliminate stupid penalties, particularly the offensive holding calls. The refs seem to always call more of those penalties against Bama than anyone else.
Pass defense is a little better than last year, but need to improve a lot over the next couple of weeks.
Other than that, we're in pretty good shape.

JJ has to learn to throw the ball away. Without the terrible ints AU wins in blowout fashion yesterday.
If we can fix the bad decisions with those passes I feel like AU will be very solid.

Basically continue whatever adjustments were made at halftime last night. In the first half I was worried about the defense which has a lot of talent. They gave up 13 and NMSU had almost a full 15:00 time of possession. Weren't getting pressure, struggling to stop the run, playing zone and NMSU was finding an open man (luckily they dropped a few) However, they came out in the second fired up and you could feel it. Shutout in the second half. I'd like to see that continue with Marcus Maye and Neal coming back for ECU

Receivers need to get open. Mitch was shaky, but he made some good throws that were flat out dropped by the receivers. Other than that, they couldn't get open all night.
Defense needs to get better between the 20's. Seems like we can't stop shite until we let them get into the red zone.

Missed a few open field tackles. Adjustments were made though as Arkansas gave up 140 yards in the first half to only 64 yards in the second. I'd like to see the running game get more work against Toledo because UTEP was loading 8-9 in the box and forcing us to throw, which we did easily.
So overall just defensive consistency and getting the new LB corps to gell together.

Florida - QB play was perfect. RB play was solid. WRs and TE's played ridiculously well, only 1 drop all night and a number of tough catches.
1st half defense was mediocre, but 2nd half they played a ton better and shut them down, as should be expected.
Florida played without two starting safties and their best pass rusher, so holding them to 200 yards and getting 3 sacks made me happy.
Only 1 penalty all night. Special teams were perfect.
Really nothing to be unhappy about.
Let's see what they do next week against a step up in competition.

Yep, the schedule sets up nicely in increasing the level of competition every week.
ECU is a step up, UK is a step up, Tennessee is a step up, and Ole Miss is a step up.

This. Our whole team played really well but weak pass coverage by the ILBs will get us beat this year

I went into the game expecting the passing game to be a liability. It was not spectacular but slightly better than expected. Right now, given Coker's lack of mobility and slow release, the most important thing for us to improve is pass blocking. I expected the new guys to need time, but the whole line was derping on us yesterday.

Run game looks miles better, Secondary needs work but we were missing 3 players and our Dbacks coach. Everything looked good for a first game and I expect the kinks to get worked out for the OU game.
