ChrisSailerKicking.com is reporting that kicker Connor Culp from Arizona has committed to LSU on full athletic scholarship for 2016.

We met Connor at the Vegas XXV Prep Camp in January of 2015. He quickly made a name for himself. A week later in Las Vegas, he was named to the most elite group of kickers, The “TOP 12". He is now the #4 ranked kicker in the United States. Here is a look at his accomplishments so far this year.

Connor Culp – 2015 Accomplishments:
Member of the “TOP 12"
2015 Vegas XXV Class of 2016 Kickoff Champion
2015 Vegas XXVI Prep Camp Overall Champion
2015 Vegas XXVI Prep Camp Field Goal Champion
2015 Vegas XXVI Prep Camp Kickoff Champion
2015 Vegas XXVI Class of 2016 Field Goal Champion
2015 Vegas XXVI Field Goal Finalist (Final 2)
2015 “TOP 12" & “Event Elite” Kickoff Champion

LSU picked up its 19th commitment for the 2016 class on Tuesday and that moved the Tigers back to No. 1 in the 247Sports Recruiting Rankings.

With the addition of Connor Culp, the nation’s No. 5 kicker in the 247Sports Composite, LSU now has a slim lead over Ohio State by .23 points.

Congrats...But Kickers are headcases.

We signed the National Record Holder for field goals 2 years ago and he couldn't beat out a walkon in 2014

Yep, never really had a problem. Delahoussaye had some bad moments last year but was hurt unfortunately.

Yup. it's a big reason why LSU has as many kickers and punters as many other positions.

#17-0 was a great example of crushing what little momentum LSU got during that game with the two missed field goals

No one thinks about kickers until they miss.

That's probably true, but I think about them. We're breaking in a new punter and possibly/hopefully a new place kicker this year, which is one of my bigger concerns. Before we joined the SEC, Arkansas was KickerU (Steve Little, Ish Ordonez, Bruce Lahey, Kendall Trainor, Steve Cox, Greg Horne, Todd Wright, etc), but we've lost numerous games to missed FG's in recent years, except while Zach Hocker was here.

So congrats on the kicker!

We had Brad Wing. We know all about kickers being headcases.

Congrats on the pickup.

Not to be critical, but where are they standing? I'm hoping that isn't the office of Les Miles. That room looks like it belongs in my grandparents house.

its actually a big deal. you get in these physical, low scoring defensive sec battles and special teams plays such a huge role. people remember names like kevin butler, al del greco, kendall trainor, philip doyle, david browndyke, etc for a reason.

That's in the Football Operations Center. It's scheduled to be remodeled soon...

Tiger Stadium isn’t the only building getting expanded. LSU’s football operations facility — including the weight room and locker room — is getting a facelift.

The school is expanding and renovating the 10-year-old facility on Skip Bertman Drive. The Tiger Athletics Nutrition Center, meanwhile, is back on schedule and could break ground as early as this fall.

The university is in the design and fundraising phase of the football operations project, so specifics — such as exact cost and start date — are unclear, said Eddie Nunez, LSU’s senior associate athletic director.

On the east side of the facility, facing Tiger Stadium, the weight room will be expanded by at least 20 percent and include a second-floor mezzanine with windows overlooking the driveway into the facility.

The east-side addition will be about 5,000 square feet, Emmett Davis told the LSU Board of Supervisors last week. Construction on the east side will last about two months.

On the west side, facing the Mississippi River and practice fields, the team’s locker room will be completely renovated, and the training room and second-floor coaches’ meeting rooms will be expanded.

Renderings of the exterior of the additions show the new additions jutting out of the two sides of the building — the new weight room bulging out near the driveway, and the west side moving closer to the football practice fields. Interior renderings were not yet available.
