Cody had off season surgery to fix an injury that pestered him in the '14 season. He's now a full go and is in line to immediately compete with Will Sport for the starting RG spot. Knott has been killing it this preseason in the strength and conditioning and spring practices, so it is believed he has the starting C job locked up.

Sport right now is 6'5" 304 lbs and Waldrop is 6'2" 309 lbs. I usually like G's to be under 6'4" especially when you don't have a 6'5" QB. Mitch and Nunez are about 6'3", so they might have an easier time seeing over Waldrop if all things are equal in those Sport/Waldrop's fall camp performance.

Good to hear. How did Sport look during the Spring? His improvement is almost paramount..

Sport won some S&C awards in the winter workouts and he played in the spring. The award he won at the end of Spring camp was the Everyday Attitude Award. So at least the coaches felt like he was putting in the effort.

Hopefully Waldrop will stay healthy. I could go the rest of my life without ever hearing the name Will Sport again

What about Mike Matulis? He was at one point positioned to take over an OG position - perhaps at RG last year until he got injured again. This year will be his final one, injury or no injury. I thought he was a front-runner for an interior line position...

Knott seems to have improved substantially, but his roster profile has him around 270 pounds? Hopefully he'll be bigger than that come the season....

Matulis was absolutely going to start at RG for us last year, until the fall camp injury. It was his injury that forced us to play Sport. This is Matulis last season, and now the bigger need is LT. Knott's weight is probably accurate, he'll be around 280ish lbs for the season. What they like about Knott is his punch, his snapping was iffy last year though, but hopefully he and Mitch get in sync.
