Why are the four seeded teams all playing each other on opening day of the CWS?

I would think the highest seed would play the worst team to open?

Is it different because it is a double elimination?

Forgive my ignorance, just seems odd.

Cannot be forgiven.....

Most sports where there is a tournamnet at the end of the season work like this, you do know that right?

For some reason every year, fans that stop by just to see the CWS think that it is a new tournament after the regionals and supers. Do they reseed after the first two rounds of March Madness?

By most to you mean almost none?

1 plays the 16 in colleges basketball
1plays 8 in NBA

Top seeds get a bye in NFL

1 v 4 in NCAA football

Think of the CWS as just the final 8 teams of the 64 team tournament with a set bracket. They don't reseed here just like they wouldn't reseed for the Final Four in basketball.

You completely missed his point. In basketball, do they reseed when they get to the elite 8? No

Do they "re-seed" in any pther tournament?

Even the ones you have listed? Just because its 64 and there is always a team that is an underdog, dont further fault them for that, they beat out higher seeds already.

A lot of fans still get confused about this (although LSU fans have no excuse). Back in 1988, when the CWS went to the single game championship to accommodate CBS TV, there were eight six-team regionals (48 teams total), and the winner of each regional advanced to the CWS. The teams in the regionals were seeded, and then, once the winners advanced to the CWS, the teams who had advanced were seeded. You can call this reseeding, I suppose, but there were no national seeds.

In 1999, when the tournament expanded to 64 teams, they went to the 16 four-team regional, super regional format. That is also when national seeds were introduced with no reseeding done at the CWS. The best-of-three championship series came about in 2003.

Because the organizing body can't handle a simple concept like highest seeded team (or team with the best record if you prefer) being the home team. How on Earth can you expect them to re-seed a playoff?

Assuming the NCAA would be able to get it right, this would definitely make the CWS more fun to watch.

Are the LSU fans complaining about who they have to play again? I am just curious because this is kinda shaping up to be a schedule thread.

Congratulations. There weren't enough ignorant posts in this thread before, but yours should just about take care of that.

Well I have to drop down to everyone's level in order to communicate clearly. Thank you very much, I just try to fit in.
