Anybody know the significance of the strange "H" in the Hoover, AL logo....that is assuming there is one??

I used to work for the city. There really isn't anything "significant" about it, it's just something to make it stand out a little more than regular ol' text.

I believe it is the Cahaba river that cuts through Hoover.
Edit: Maybe the left is I65 and the right is Hwy 31 with the Cahaba cutting through both.

Its meant to represent the two towers of the Galleria Mall.
Its actually very fitting for Hoover to have a mall as it's logo. The town is nothing but a collection of shopping centers.

quote:The enclosed shopping Mall has fallen and given way to the new "Lifestyle" centers aka the Summit. Now we see developers and retailers sprinkling these glorified strip centers all over the place mixed in with restaurants and eateries. For the developer/owner of these centers it's great because overall maintenance and operational costs are dirt cheap. They get the same rents per square foot from the tenants and avoid the outrageous heating/cooling/cleaning/security costs of maintaining a huge enclosed center like the Galleria.
I still like it
I'm not a big shopper, and would rather drive right up to the store, make my purchase, get in the car and go. Still a lot of folks enjoy the nice climate, amenities, and feel of a place like the Galleria. But they are a dying breed in the South these days.

I worked in that office tower about 15 years ago. Bet I've averaged less than one trip a year to the mall since then.

That's most of America nowadays. I was a little surprised that the only differences between Denver and any decent sized southern city (except Nola) I've lived, were the stores with a green cross on the signs and mountains in the background. Other than that, American cities aren't unique at all.

Hell, the 28th best city in America to live in according to the Wall Street Journal, with two of the best public high schools in the country
Also, the Galleria is absolutely still a shopping destination. It's no longer the only one in town like 20 years ago, but probably still #1 to the average person.
To answer the OP, the significance of the "H" in the logo.... Wait for it.... It's the first letter in the word Hoover .... I know, it's a mind frick, right?
