Odd. Wikipedia says he was #8 that year.
ETA: He was #1 in the AFL. There are 2 #1's listed for that year.

That also shows uga having 4 first picks. 3 of them are from the 1953 and earlier, so maybe ESPN is cutting off the list at a certain date for some reason.

I dont think we should admit to Aundray Bruce. Great in college. Total bust in the NFL.

did not live up to expectations, but did play 11 years in the league mostly as a role player (pass rusher). Should not have been picked as the #1 overall players, but he was.

Watching him single handedly destroy Ga Tech on my lone visit to Grant Field was awesome. As an individual defensive performance it has to rank up there near the top in Auburn history. Hmmm, maybe a spinoff thread here. Nick Fairley destroyed Georgia. Aundray Bruce destroyed Ga Tech. who else?

Falcons drafted him No.1 He sucked for the Falcons. Didnt keep up with Aundray after that.

Yeah anybody who plays that long in the NFL is solid at worst.

1. You're right. He WAS a total bust as a middle linebacker with the Atlanta Falcons. You do know that's what they tried to make him, right?

See his first 2 years at LOLB? He had 6 sacks in each of those years along with 3 total interceptions. Then, after that year, he got injured and the Falcons decided to make a MLB of him. You can see the results.
2. He played in the League for 10+ years. He played 6+ years as a situation pass rusher with the Raiders.
He always ends up on these "busts" lists. I can understand that. But what it really means in Bruce's case was "I was a bust cuz I was saddled with the worst organization and worst coaching in NFL history".
