Mizzou heading that way this weekend.

I keep up with them but they're terrible this year so I don't really care

That gave me my answer.
Driving from STL to ATL. Leaving early morning and Friday and didn't know if it was worth re-routing to try to catch the game Friday night. Would add 1 1/2 hours to the drive plus however long we stay at the game. I'll take it as a no though.

There might be one or two around here (I honestly don't know) but if Serraneaux or someone else doesn't show up to answer your questions then you should probably try VN's baseball subforum. Vol baseball has really only recently gotten any attention outside or inside the university and certainly doesn't have the following other SEC baseball teams do. The Smokies have really stolen their place, imo.

They would get more attention if they didn't suck

Mizzou is the same way. I haven't even gotten to COMO for a game, but since I was gonna be on the road, the thought had crossed my mind. Even though our record is good, I'm still not sold on our team. I love baseball in general but leaning to it probably not being worth it, which is a statement about the Tigers as much as the Vols. I was just wondering what the atmosphere was like. If it was an experience worth the added drive time and what not.
Sounds like the atmosphere is probably a lot like Mizzou's, and I won't make that 2 hour trip.
Thanks for the input though guys, and I'm always open to being persuaded if Serraneaux sees this.

They have underachieved this year. I was giving Serrano a hard time but looking back, the reality of it is that they have played 18 of 28 games on the road. Their RPI is 53 and starting with Mizzou this weekend, they have a chance to get back in the mix. Vols are 1 game out 7th place which is a miracle with how bad they have played. They do have road wins at Florida, at Vandy and won two at Ole Miss and one at UC-Irvine. That being said, no way would I re-route a trip to go see a game in Knoxville.

Thanks for that. Not gonna do it then. Want to get up to UT some time but I'll save it for a football game then.
Really, only 2 teams (A&M and Vandy) have separated themselves. After that, it's just a jumble of teams. Mizzou could end up anywhere from 3rd (highly unlikely) to last still (also highly unlikely).
Anyways, best of luck to you guys this weekend, just not too much of it.

Same to you Reedus
I would definitely recommend making it for a football game. Amazing atmosphere. Baseball games, not so much.

Not sure that anyone cares, but for some reason Mizzou is throwing their midweek starter in game 1 on Thursday. I guess it's because y'all are keeping your Friday and Saturday pitchers on their normal rotation so Mizzou is doing the same thing. If it were me, I'd just bump everyone up a day.

I was being a smartass since there are so few of them.

Surprised to see the Vols took game 1.

I watched most of it on SECn. Cox location and slider were on and Serrano threw well in relief. Senzel had a big 2 rbi hit. And the defense was solid and that hasn't been the case for much of the year.
I'll say this too...I don't mind small ball but bunting with senzel up with two on and no out is silly.

Yeah, I'm not a fan.
What time does today's game start?

I haven't watched one of our games in ages but bunting with two on and no outs is a horrible decision unless the pitcher is batting

Supposed to be 7. Not sure how much rain the field took, but it was coming down pretty decent for a few hours.
Last night they were on 1st and 2nd, so I can understand not wanting to hit into a double play and trying to manufacture a run, but he took the bat out of hands of one of the few good hitters on this team. Guys like Stewart and Senzel should swing away 99% of the time.
Funny thing is, on one of the bunts Mizzou almost turned two...some poor bunts/bunt attempts last night.
