That in 1994, Mike Brey accepted the AU basketball job and then left us at the alter? Wonder where we would be as a program had he not fricked us over.

Yep. Coach K did the same thing when it looked like we were going to land Capel in 04.

His pay was going to be 200k. This goes to show how bloated coaches salaries have become in two decades...oh well.
It's impossible to predict what would've happened had he ended up on the plains, but it's satisfying to see we've targeted some potentially great coaches before...now we've landed one in Bruce.

In the article, it stated Coach K was key in influencing Auburn to target Brey...did Coach K change his mind?

I will say this, bray has had a solid run at ND, but this was his first elite 8 in his 17 years there... his teams have consistently under preformed in the tourney (prior to this year).
I have no idea what he could've done at auburn, but I doubt he could've done more than cliff Ellis did in his decade long run IMO.

Might not have done more than Ellis, but good bet he could have sustained longer and not get us on probation.
