Greater persecutors of Progress: Moralists or Ethicists?

Everywhere I go in America I find myself surrounded by self-appointed public moralists and ethicists. Dudes who seem stuck in some pubescent stage of development. The brutal realities of nature and the inherent limitations of human nature have yet revealed themselves (or are ardently denied); there's no distinction between the real and the ideal. Their response to every proposed solution to any problem is, "What gives you the right to play God?"

We have all benefitted, and graduated, from Moses, Plato, Jesus, Ghandi, and King. We all know the way things ought to be. It's not 1960: we all know about racism. It's not 1950: we know about sexism. It's not 100,000 BCE: we all know that a red monkey shouldn't kill a blue monkey just because he's blue! WE DON'T NEED YOU TO GUIDE US!

We all can read. We all have frickin arse TV's.

If I propose that we invade the Middle East and exterminate the region completely and use and sell the oil and build some resorts at some oases it's not because I don't know "right" from "wrong". It's because I do and I don't give a damn anyway.

We're fricking men. God gave us the right to play God, ladies.
