Did it seem like our opponents NEVER turned the ball over?

If so, there's good reason.
Our 2014 opponents ran 47.3 Plays Per Turnover, the highest rate allowed in the Saban era. Our 2013 opponents had the second highest Plays Per Turnover rate at 40.6.
By contrast, our offense managed its worst Plays Per Turnover rate in the Saban era at 46.3. Our best years in terms of this ratio were 2009 (78.9) and 2011 (72.1).

God I miss our 2009 defense (a ridiculous 27.2 Plays Per Turnover)...

I hope so. That defense managed 31 total turnovers. 24 interceptions and 7 fumbles.

We've definitely had a 180 on the turnover front, and need to get back to old form. It will be tough to find better ball security than those old teams. Ingram very rarely fumbled, and QB pay was incredibly conservative. But we can deal with the extra turnovers if we're getting a more explosive offense. But it was obvious that we were going to be thinner the secondary, with us missing several top targets and taking a coupe of projects. But after the last couple classes, we should have the top unit in the country by 2016

In 2014, we managed 47 Rushing Plays Per Fumble and 45 Pass Plays per Interception.
*Note that this does not exclude plays such as jet sweeps, which are technically rushing plays but not in the traditional sense, as well as passing plays that resulted in fumbles after the catch.

Yeah, we haven't seemed to force as many TOs lately. And of course we've had more. Need our INT numbers to get back to form, and the backs could do a little better job holding onto the ball.

09 the turnovers seemed to come at key moments that just stoned an opposing team too.

True. The one Javy had to seal the Ole Miss game is still about the most impressive one I can recall. In fact, that whole game is one of my all-time favorites for Bama defensively. Every single hit was huge.

No surprise. We had way too many guys starting on this team that never would have seen the field in 2009 or 2011.

Yes. It definitely seemed like that. Even the teams like Southern Miss and FAU didn't turn the ball over to us. Really bothered me this year. I'll give them credit where credit is due though, they made some really crucial turnovers when they needed to. (Arkansas and Miss State)
Also, I specifically remember before the Ole Miss game when I said "Watch. Bo Wallace won't throw a single damn interception this game." And go figure.

Right on. 09 was a venomous snake that struck at the opportune time. 11 was a python that got ahold of you and slowly strangled you. The longer the game went on the greater the sense of hopelessness set in.

Well, two things need to happen. More pressure by the front 7. Get in the QB's face, especially on 3rd down, make him feel uncomfortable, and throw errant passes. Secondly, DB's turn their fricking heads.

I thought that #32 Evans could have played a big part in the Sugar Bowl, but I don't remember really seeing him. I'm not a coach, but the kid is obviously really good at chasing people down.
