If State is undefeated, I don't think a second team from the West that they've already beaten should get in. If there is a gaggle of one loss teams in the West, and some screwy tie breaker decides who goes to Atlanta, then I don't have a problem with two, depending on how things work out in the other conferences.

Look at the SEC in the Cotton Bowl. Maybe the Big 12 should be banned from the playoff completely.

So you consider an Ohio State win against Northsouthwest Roast Beef tech a more "quality" performance than a couple of close losses to top 5 ranked SEC teams?

Yes. MSU and Auburn. If Auburn slips up then whoever is left out of Bama, UGA and LSU.

I was looking at the Sugar Bowl over the last 8 years and it seems that the basic 'runner up' of the SEC hasn't faired too well. Just a small sample, but could support their argument if they want to make it.

2006 2 loss Georgia beat by WV
2009 1 loss Bama beat by UTAH
2011 2 loss Arky beat by OSU
2013 1 loss UF beat by Louisville
2014 1 loss Bama beat by OU

So maybe the committee should not consider a second SEC team?

Wasn't UGA loss to WV in the 2005 season? For 2006, you should consider LSU (2 loss) destroying Notre Dame.

Like someone else stated, 2011 Arkansas was 3rd place in West; hell 2011 UGA might be ahead of them too.
