The bolded part is so true.
I just asked chatta in the other thread what Coker has actually done on the field.. not in one-on-one's or against air... which has proven he is as great as he is being made out to be?
I mean Coker hasn't dominated a FSU spring camp. The last one he was basically injured most of it.
So I'm really wondering besides arm strength why is he our chosen one this season??

You play the best quarterback now. Playing a different guy because he is with the team for another year is absolutely ridiculous. You want Sims out that badly? Some of you have lost your minds.
Read my OP. Didn't say I wanted Sims out. I said I wished LK would have went more vertical with him during the game. Then I said if he can't go vertical, then put the Qb in the game that can. Furthermore, if there is no seperation between the two... which I haven't seen one be any better than the other.... then I would go with Coker due to him having two years to play.
In the end, I want the Qb out there that gives us the best chance to win. Not against FAU but against A&M, Auburn, LSU. And right now, I am not sold on either Sims or Coker being "the guy."

Have you watched the games? Are you even aware that the season has started?

Everything he said was a fair point. And you respond with this? Come on, man.

Yep. Watched every down. And thus far I have seen nothing from either one that indicates they are the man. That's my football opinion. My personal opinion? I was cheering for Sims to be that guy and was cheering for him to get every opportunity to win the job. Why? Because he stuck with the program and deserves the shot. And I am glad Nick is giving it to him. But to say he is anything anymore than even with Coker at this point is incorrect. I want to see Sims throw the ball down the field. It's gonna take that against SEC opponents. I haven't seen enough of that yet to just give him the job. Can he do it consistently? Who knows. We haven't seen it yet.

Ummm...then why did Coker barely play against WV? There is still a competition but it is far from even

Now this is the height of delusion. So very very far from reality.
It is hilarious actually. Damn we have the worst fans

but I still believe Coker will be our QB. He will give us our best chance once we face tougher defenses for sure.
How can anyone believe this. Coker may never win the QB position this or next year.
Some seem to believe the troll job that Jimbo did to us and the media.
Time will tell but if Sims improves as much as Coker needs to, then Sims still will be the #1 qb this year.
Do not discount Sims ability to avoid the sack and turn it into a positive play.

What's delusional about it?
I said I wanted Sims to win the job. I also haven't seen him throw many vertical passes. Have you? No. That worries me... and it should worry you too as sideline screens won't beat LSU, Auburn, A&M.
Coker looked rusty in his game management. Sims looked better. Coker looks better going vertical... even when he overthrew his passes. Sims looks better at knowing the offense.
Coker has suffered from not playing in well over a year and a half. Timing off, not fully knowing the offense, accuracy in throwing, etc. Sims is playing now because he gives Bama the best opportunity to win right now. Down the road this season...I don't know. His skill set as a QB is limited. Coker has much more potential long term. Call me delusional if you like. NFL scouts who know more about football than you or I ever will think the same thing. Enjoy.

I keep seeing this said. Sims threw two bubble screens in our only real game. 2 bubble screens out of 33 passes.

Yeah those garbage snaps at FSU meant a lot.
I went back and watched the WV game and will say that Sims looked good enough to do the job for us. He missed some easy passes, struggled a little at times, but otherwise did a decent enough job. The FAU game was a wasted opportunity to me because all he threw was the sideline wr screen. I would have liked to see him attack downfield more.
Either way, we will be fine at QB. Got too much talent around them to help them out. I have stated that I wanted Sims to get his shot and win the job. Right now, I think he leads. We will just have to wait to see how he improves as the games get tougher.

ok in that case Coker "has suffered" from not having played since his senior year in high school. Same is true for Sims before the WV game

Sims has thrown a lot more than just screens. There's quite a bit of SECr propaganda in some of these statements.
Besides, I seem to recall AU doing pretty well with a strong running game, good OL, mobile QB who really didn't have much of a deep threat. And they didn't have anyone anywhere near the ability of Cooper at wideout.

They also lost in the title game. It is about winning the title game. Plus now with the playoffs there is another big time game you gotta play.
Think about it for Bama this year. We'd need to beat Auburn, the East Champion, a playoff team, and then a playoff game winner to win it all.
Our QB, whether it be Sims or Coker, will have to make plays.

I think Blake is a swell guy too, but the homerism in here seems to know no bounds. He isn't "taking what the defense gives him", the coaches are game planning around his inability to throw downfield. He hasn't hit a receiver in stride downfield more than MAYBE twice. The few passes he's thrown more than 15 yards (and they're few to be sure) have been at WR's who had to turn around and stand there waiting on the ball. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm afraid of what will happen when we play an actual defense. Maybe this offense will work better than I expect, but I'm not optimistic at this point.
Still waiting for teague and ww to admit they were wrong and take their lumps.

I confused you with RolldatRoll and whiskeyjohn from earlier in this thread. We were on the same side of that discussion.
