Austin Sheppard is up to 320, returning starter at RT. Leon Brown started the Sugar Bowl. Alphonse Taylor is Fluker sized at 6'5 335 and ran first team guard in the spring.
I think the OL is rated where they need to be. Lets play the opener and Florida before we use underrated. Shepard may not start and Taylor won't start and didn't run 1st team Guard either. It was from Left to Right
Robinson, Kouandjio, Kelly, Brown, Shepard
I hope by the season it is
Robinson, Grant Hill, Kelly, Brown, Dominick Jackson
OR Hill and Jackson switched depending on who's better at what. Those are the best 5 I think we can put on the field. Arie doesn't have any knees, Shepard is too slow on pass protection, Hill and Jackson are legit.

Even if you hate Alabama, you can't deny the talent and depth at the skill positions.
So if he doesn't win the ship will his coaching on field come into question?

Is that a quote from last season?

Shank Taylor ran several practices in the spring at first team right guard. Leon Brown moved between LT and guard. And if you look at where we were last year vs this at this point, true there is a lot of speculation but we do know more about the personnel than we did then.
Sheppard played pretty well at RT , I sure did not hear Dee Ford's name called a lot in the Iron Bowl and the pressure Mc Carron got in the Sugar Bowl was from the left side.

Good Lord
Where did I say that Alabama was the only team in the country with talent?
Are they the most talented? Yes they are. That doesn't always equal a national championship. As an Auburn fan you should certainly know that requires the ball bouncing your way a time or two through the course of a season

I don't get why people think Alabama's line won't be good. There is more experience size and depth back than last year. 4 players that started the Sugar Bowl
Because last year's line sucked when it really, really mattered.
From 2008-2012, when Alabama needed a yard on third or fourth down, they almost always got it. That wasn't the case in 2013 (see the Auburn game, the Va Tech game, heck even the Colorado State game).
The fact that there were three new starters and a new O-line coach certainly played a big part but in the end not getting it done is not getting it done.
The O-line is going to rightly be eyed with suspicion until they prove they can once again get a yard to win a game.

You are right about the OL. That position is what will keep Bama from winning another championship. If we had Auburn's line with the skill talent we have, we would be a shoo in.

I'd rather have LSU's line. Aubs OL benefit greatly from getting to run block all day; it's much easier than pass protection.

definitely. I remember those plays you linked. But I also remember him dropping an easy TD which would've won us the Iron Bowl last year. He makes the great plays, but sometimes he doesn't make the easy(ish) plays.
Julio almost seemed like the opposite. He'd drop some of those two yard WR screens, but he'd catch most all of the deep bombs, whereas Cooper catches all the screens and drops some deep ones.

I agree. Cooper needs to show more consistency but he's got the tools to be one of the best receivers I can remember Bama having. He's got the speed to run by most DBs and he's got the elusiveness to take a short pass to the house. If nothing else, defenses have to pay extra attention to him which will help to free up the other guys.

I don't know that they'll be bad and they could end up being quite good. There's certainly a lot of talent on the roster but based on last season's performance anyone that doesn't rate them as suspect is just being a homer.

yep. that could be a big key to our offense this year. It should open things up for OJ and the other WRs. If Foster can be as good as a lot of us think he will be, we are in good shape.
