What's the story? He was set to announce but has pushed it back. I've heard it's because Auburn isn't ready to take him or that the Auburn staff is on vacation so they want to talk first before he commits.

Is he a take at this point? UK and MSU seem to round out his top 3, but UK already has like 7-8 OL commits.

I know Gus does not accept commitments until he talks to the player and with this being a no contact period I don't think he can commit until he talks with Gus. I am betting once the dead period ends he commits.

Really would be pissed if we are not accepting his commitment at this point as I think he is going to be a stud at center.

You are correct. Staff is on vacation and wants to re-evaluate OL prospects during the dead period that is about to begin. All appears that he wants in Auburns class it's just up to the coaches to evaluate him over the next few weeks.

A little off topic, but the name "dead period" is deceptive. Coaches can still talk on the phone to recruits. It's just no in-person contact.

quote:

For those unfamiliar with dead period, here's a brief synopsis courtesy of NCAA.org: "During a dead period a college coach may not have face-to-face contact with college-bound student-athletes or their parents, and may not watch student-athletes compete or visit their high schools. Coaches may write and telephone student-athletes or their parents during a dead period."

I believe the recruits have to call the coach though.

Do you have a link to that? I've been trying to figure out the rules for some time now. On a recruiting site I found this:

quote:

Dead Period:
The college coach cannot make in-person contact with you or your legal guardians. This prevents the coach from making any evaluations of you whatsoever. However, the coach can make telephone calls to you or your legal guardians.

The "making calls to" makes it sound like the coach can initiate contact, but the whole thing is confusing to me. I : dunno :

Ya my bad. Coaches are on vacation tho... Either way he has to talk to the staff first for them to accept their commitment. KN stated that coaches are reevaluating the OL since we have 4 right now.

Personally I wish we just take the kid. Him or Kennedy are solid C prospects and if one is ready to jump on board I say let him
