4th down, all you have to do is knock it down, a DB will always go for glory. It is a no brainier, which is what most DB's have.

Enough already, the point is, why do DB's do that? 4th down, unless you have a dead lock on a pick 6, knock it down. Are they told what to do on 4th down?

Instinctual. I'm sure they've heard by now what they should have done.

Was talking about that on Fox Sports radio this morning. Think it's natural instinct to try and intercept the ball whenever you get the chance. I mean it looks easy to catch.lol. Then shite like last night happens.

Instinctual.

This. Unless you're specifically told to knock it down before the play, when a pass is headed right for your breadbasket your instinct is to catch it. Had Louis not run into him he probably would have. It's one of those deals where I don't think one realizes just how instinctual it is just to catch the ball vs. consciously knocking it down unless it's impressed in your mind before the play. It takes an extremely heady player to overcome your default instinct to try and catch it.

It was not a Hail Mary situation - Marshall went through progressions - it was a 4th and long with time still left on the clock, so they may not have been told beforehand to knock it down. Now, they SHOULD have been, but I wouldn't be surprised it they were not.
