BURRELL TOWNSHIP, Pa. —They say you can get almost anything at Walmart -- but the Pennsylvania Game Commission says a deer hunter took it too far.

DA: He chased the deer, firing shots

Indiana County District Attorney Patrick Dougherty talks about the shooting of a deer by a man in a Walmart parking lot in Burrell Township.

Arcangelo Bianco Jr. is charged with reckless endangerment and hunting law violations for allegedly shooting across Old William Penn Highway to kill a 10-point buck he spotted in the store's parking lot in November.

"He got out of his vehicle with a handgun and chased this deer through the parking lot, letting off several rounds, and then he ran across Route 22 to further get the deer, then loaded it up into his car and took it to a processing plant," District Attorney Patrick Dougherty said Wednesday.

Wildlife Conservation Officer Jack Lucas told the Indiana Gazette that the buck was the nicest one he's seen taken in Indiana County in recent years.

Bianco's lawyer, Jason Huska, told WTAE's Ashlie Hardway that his client denies wrongdoing. He noted that state police initially did not file charges, but the Game Commission went back later and charged the 40-year-old man.

"The initial call went into our emergency management 911 system. The state police was dispatched," Dougherty said. "However, once they determined that it involved a deer, the Game Commission was then dispatched to take over as the lead investigation agency."

Bianco is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 1.

That's probably not the first time a deer has been shot from a WalMart parking lot.

People's heads would explode if this happened in Boulder. It would be the largest candlelight vigil in the town's history.

Bigger than this one. LINK
