Not even talking about football success. Just sitting here thinking how we are all getting old. Seems like just yesterday we landed the goat and now he’s retired.
Life just absolutely flys by.
Man is like a breath; his days are like a fleeting shadow.
Psalm 144:4
I hope y’all know Christ because this world and everything in it is so very temporary.
Roll Tide and may God bless y’all.

This isn't really a response to your OP Kenny, but I saw an al.com article yesterday highlighting, and listing observations on how "odd," "surreal," "awkward", etc Saturday's a-game was with Saban not leading the helm. Article was very melancholic, and drab. I just heard Chris Lowe say similar things.
I mean, no shite its going to be different. I think that the fans have fully accepted the change, are on board with, and excited about the future. Annoying seeing journalists try and frame post Saban a-day as a depressing affair, when to me it seemed like everyone had a good time, and enjoyed and embraced it.

I have certainly embraced the change and I believe the new staff will achieve great things! I’m actually really excited about changing up our play style. Could be fun, especially if we keep winning lol
But Saban being gone just seems unreal at the moment.

It's tough because as far as I'm concerned, Saban's philosophy was perfect on just about everything. It's weird having a new coach and sometimes wondering if his approach will work.

Yeah, as much as I caught myself questioning him while he was here, he obviously knew what he was doing.
I’m definitely more concerned with the defense but he just pulled a 4 star linebacker from Georgia so if he can keep pulling in top talent I’ll feel good about it.

I believe Saban still had a couple of years left in him even though Father Time was knocking on the door. He made it pretty clear why he retired.
I’m thankful for seeing firsthand in my lifetime the best two college football coaches in cfb history. You can decide who’s 1 or 2. But there is no wrong answer, both are equally deserving.

Amen and Amen..
That said I'm so extremely happy for Coach Saban.. He looks healthier and happier these days... I could tell that the grind of being a football coach and the state of CFB in general had taken its toll on him.. Glad that he can spend more time taking care of himself and focusing on what's really important: family.... IMO he actually looks happier than ever, he's also still very involved in the program(s), lives in Tuscaloosa and he IS one of us...
IMHO, he retired at the right time... He went out a winner and the GOAT!!
Regarding our new coach, let's just say we are in GREAT hands. From an offensive X's and O's standpoint, he might be the best there is... I mean his results speak for themselves. He might not do it Saban's way, but I firmly believe the results will be VERY similar!! He's hired an ELITE defensive coordinator which was huge and this defense is FULL of elite D-Lineman and pass rushers... I'll go so far as to say, they'll be better than last year overall... He's showing that he can be an elite recruiter and I firmly believe that under his leadership, this team will surprise A LOT of people... Many in tRant will be eating their words this year... BOOKMARK IT..

bringing up your religion where it has absolutely no place, like a football board
I will never understand why some people believe they have the right to determine what is and is not acceptable to post here, like you own speech. It’s infuriating.
The truth is everyone should have the right to say what they want to say, even this idiocy.

It's being respectful and mindful of the space. Not like we are talking about banning for being up religion, so no its not acting like I, or anyone owns free speech.
I'm not going to use football content on a football message board to share my perspective on how when we die we enter the same nothingness we experienced for the billions of years before we were born as our body rots, becomes bones and eventually becomes part of the earth's crust. It's rude, and completely irrelevant to the space.
Not about controlling speech at all, it's about having the slightest amount of social skills and social awareness.

Why would the OP do that when he genuinely believes, as I do, that what he is saying is true?
So it would be totally appropriate for me to just randomly post:

In the blink of an eye, everything is over.
I hope y’all are making the most of this incredibly short time we have, as soon you will cease to exist and re-enter the nothingness you knew before you were born. Time is really precious and your consciousness will not exist forever so enjoy it will you are here.
Roll Tide and have a good time before you re-enter the void.

It isn't the same anymore... and I am pretty reticent about the new guy. He talks too much
And I really don't care who that makes mad

Hope we can stay away from the divisiveness here, there's just no need.
Not gonna lie, it hit me hard. What are you gonna do. I blame myself because nobody should get that invested in sports, but here we are...and there are certainly far worse ways to live one's life.
Coach Saban was always a steadying force for me. Sometimes, when I was having a bad day, I'd just think there was that guy out there who was just tirelessly grinding through much greater obstacles every day, for years on end. And always doing the right thing, while remaining a decent human being.
I think the greater sin would have been to not appreciate it along the way, which I never did. Never took a second of the ride for granted.
All that said, glad he left when he did. As always, he called his own shot!
