I’m pretty sure his age had some members of our search committee feeling like he wasn’t ready. Plus it was an easy assumption at the time that OU was just gonna get him back once Stoops retired and Riley wouldn’t be fully committed to us.

We thought he was too young and inexperienced. Then turn around and hire Beamer 5 years later
