What was it that happened here with him?
Tanner just said no?

I’m pretty sure his age had some members of our search committee feeling like he wasn’t ready. Plus it was an easy assumption at the time that OU was just gonna get him back once Stoops retired and Riley wouldn’t be fully committed to us.

Damn, so two seasons with Riley post spurrier?
Whatya think our record would have been?

And a terrible coach went 6-6 in the regular season with it

We thought he was too young and inexperienced. Then turn around and hire Beamer 5 years later

The Muschamp hire was such a crock of shite
I’m much more mad at that hire than Beamer, by a long shot

probably not that much better honestly. OU recruits itself pretty well and was pretty set up honestly.
SC was not. Lincoln would have been fighting a good CU for recruits and would have needed to create connections. He probably would have skipped without many wins imo

He walked into a fully stocked cabinet. Imagine if spurrier had handed a top 10 team to any young coach like Riley the same way. We’d have had our pick of the litter coming off of 2/3 ten win seasons
