True, and as ridiculous as it may appear on the surface, the ROI for an elite coach is insane.
I'm guessing Saban has earned short of $100-million at Alabama, and the University has probably completed around $1-billion in campus improvements during that time.
Of course this isn't the case everywhere, but the ancillary money that a successful SEC coach brings into the program as a whole still far exceeds what they're paid.
I always felt Auburn should've been able to build a football only facility after the '10 NC & Heisman season. The time was ripe for Chizik to have petitioned the BOT and gotten the thing funded and built. Hell, if the '10 season didn't get facility then Gus' 2013 NC appearance damn sure should've gotten it built. Why delay it?
If you don't strike while the iron is hot, pussy foot around and wait, time runs out and you're in catch-up mode compared to your rivals.

Auburn built a new basketball arena in 2010.
New indoor practice facility in 2011.
New athletic dorms in 2013.
New Wellness Kitchen for athletes in 2014.
New Recruiting Center in 2018.
New Baseball Player Development Center in 2021.
This is just the athletics facilities, not counting other campus buildings. Can only build so much.
