I know he killed a young woman and a dog because his reckless and careless behavior while driving drunk at speeds of 156 mph. He murdered someone. He should be in prison for a very long time. 3-10 years is a disgrace to the victim and the victim's family and all those whose lost loved ones to drunk drivers.

Just my opinion, but 3 feels light. 5-10 feels about right for the “have to learn your lesson and better not ever do it again” punishment, but it doesn’t bring the woman back and wouldn’t be deemed as fair punishment for the destruction he caused.
In these cases of absolute recklessness and stupidity, I lean toward how much to make sure he doesn’t do it again vs. fairness based on damage done. In intentional murder cases, I lean toward fairness to victims vs. ensuring they won’t do it again.
Any repeat DUIs for him should be long prison time though. As George W. would say “Fool me once…..fool me can’t fool me again.”
