You can say the same about both the 2011 LSU and Bama defenses. The offenses in the conference were terrible that year.

I know LSU played a tougher OOC schedule than Bama that year. I'd have to go back and look. But the only good offense Bama played all year was Petrino's Arkansas. They ranked 14th in yards per play. The next best team was LSU at 50.

I'm sure these metrics to come up with the ranking are trying to take into account such things, but most teams in the SEC at that time were trying to establish the run, win with defense and shorten the game, thus taking possessions away from the offense.

Good point but regardless it’s at least nice to see a defense that stands out which hasn’t existed in so many years. I hate it personally
