I mean there are Auburn fans that thought UGA wearing black jerseys and dancing to Soulja Boy was disrespectful.
Your opinions of other fans are different than how they view themselves, and vice versa. Everyone is somewhat blind to the failures of their people and overly sensitive to the failures of people not on their “team.”
ETA: I do think the culture in the two towns and student bodies are pretty different. The whole thing about Auburn and Georgia being similar groups is/was overstated, at least in the past 20 years. Auburn and Georgia largely appeal to different kinds of kids in terms of what college environment they are looking for.
