Eh, there are some space challenges BDS presents that MB and Jerry World don't face. The concessions areas at MB are massive. Those areas at BDS are already pretty cramped.

But I do agree it should have been addressed with one of the recent upgrades.

Went to the Falcons game Sunday (free ticket). 2 hot dogs for $3, $7 for a pint of Miller. I don't know a stadium in the world where you can get that. The low prices encourage more people to buy. MBS has it figured out.

I don't think you can even get that at Dairy Queen anymore

Yep and after the first season they said they actually did more in sales because many people that wouldn't buy food at the GA Dome because of the price started getting to games at the Benz early to actually eat at the stadium.

I think our AD said 40pct of the people didnt show up to work. That is hard to fix. They can only read the riot act to these groups and tell them they will be black listed if their people dont show up. People just dont want to work anymore. They would rather the Government send some money to fix the problem.

People want to work. People don't want to work for low pay in shitty conditions though.

These are basically volunteer groups, right? They should keep their commitments if UA has allowed them the space. Otherwise, I guess the solution is to hire everything out.

Not all of them are volunteer groups, and the backbone of the operation is a contracted company.

Total BS. They would rather sit on their arse and get a check from the Government. But the above poster is right. Dont volunteer and then back out. But when you are undisciplined, that easy to do.

What does it say about the pay they receive if they can "sit on their arse and get a check from the government" and presumably make more money that way?

Not sure if this is directed at concession stand workers , but I don’t think there are too many high paying , hot dog slinging jobs out there. I get what you are saying but not every skill set requires high paying salaries

It's a general statement on the 40% Byrne cited as not showing up to work. Could be concessions stand workers, could be gate attendants, could be janitorial staff, etc. 40% no-show rate is astronomically high and points to deeper problems than people just not wanting to work.

That is a high number but he did say they committed to coming and then not show up so I assume the salary was known when they committed

Agree. It needs to be improved. As does the game environment in the stadium. BDS could be one of the most intimidating environments in college football. But between the silent blue hairs and the ridiculous PA song selections BDS is pretty tame

Alabama makes an embarrassing amount of money off concessions.
Like I mentioned in a previous post, the groups get 10% to work it, the contracted company that handles the concessions gets about 10% also, sales tax is 9% or so, and cost is probably 10%.
So, the University is pocketing about 60% of gross sales.
Insane, IMO.

And to give you an idea of how much an average fan spends, in my estimation it's about $5 or more per game.

So, 100k fans, nets $500,000 in concessions.
University grabs about $300,000 to do virtually nothing.

We've been working diligently to address issues with our concessions at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Below is a list of the improvements made over the last few weeks to help better serve our fans.

Reminder to arrive early & bring your empty water bottles. See you Saturday! #RollTide
